Spun Sugar by John Curtis Crawford
A Fairy with a serious sweet tooth hovers at the edge of the woods, mesmerized by the intricately woven lichen clinging to every surface. It evokes dreams for her of cotton candy and spun sugar, two of her many favorite sweets. Most Fairies are delighted by natural foods but our confectionate Fairy friend envisions more. Huckleberries remind her of gum drops, shelf mushrooms of layer cakes and dandelion puffs of sticky meringues. Almost everything triggers visions of chocolate! As you might suspect, she darts around like a hyperactive hummingbird but in place of the helicopter roar of hummingbird wings, there is a sweet melody of Fairy bells when she passes by, looking for her next sip of honeyed nectar.
