Winged Crown by John Curtis Crawford
A fierce and breathtakingly graceful hawk came gliding over the woodland glade one morning and landed in a tall fir tree. It called out to the Fairies to come and play and soon bright spots of light danced around the magnificent bird. It raised its wings before leaping back to the sky, gifting the Fairies and all other watching creatures with an image that held the ease and majesty of flight. This house evolved from the dream of that image. Its twigs come from a wind-swept peak, a perfect home for the raptor who spreads his regal wings protectively over the house and all Fairies who choose to gather here. When the resident Fairies dance and feast for full moon celebrations, they always leave a tasty morsel in the tree for the hawk.
