First came a Fairy House. Everything else flowed from that. We created a habitat where our Fairy friends could live, close to us. The Fairies moved in and told us their stories. When we took photos of their habitats, the Fairies appeared in them, giving birth to the prints, calendars, and cards.

Every product in the Fairy Store is handmade in our workshop in Oregon, created with materials from nature, and designed to provide a real home to real Fairies.

Fairy Store

Life begins with an open and unlimited imagination. We invite you see with your imagination – and give yourself permission to believe what you see. The world is alive, Fairies are real, and they peek out at us from every Earth place that remembers the wild. Let the Fairies take your imagination by the hand and lead you to the threshold. On the other side, there is magic.

This calendar features Fairy Houses created by John Curtis Crawford set in mythic art scenes from the Land of Faerie, photographed and discovered by John as well. The calendar includes a separate booklet containing the original stories written for each house by Bridget Wolfe.

Enchantment

When was the last time you allowed yourself to be enchanted in the way you were as a child? When did you last peek into flowers looking for Fairies or watch dragon clouds roar across the sky? Is enchantment best left to children and story book wizards or is there still room for enchantment in your life? If you are called to Faerie, then enchantment may yet slip through your door.   We think about the Faerie world as something separate, a place of enchantment different from where we live each day. We put on our wings and play with others once or twice a year at festivals. We keep winged figurines on our mantle or hanging in our windows to remind us of that magical other world.   What if we know there’s a Fairy hiding in every bush or potted plant? What if each stone carries Fairy song? If your imagination can hold open the door to such possibilities, what enchantment might await you across the threshold?

In Search of Enchantment

It has been said that we live in a culture devoid of true enchantment. We’re “enchanted” with objects our credit cards can buy, mesmerized by technology and its toys, spoonfed by flickering images dancing on flat screens, and caught in virtual worlds. Perhaps. But if you are tripping along the winding path to Faerie, searching for the gateway to step through, enchantment pours from the very air you breathe.

Wander through a wildflower meadow, a Japanese garden or an old growth forest. Gape in wonder at the wings of a butterfly, gaze in awe as meteors streak across the sky, close your eyes in reverie as the first fully ripe strawberry of the season bursts in your mouth. You are enchanted, caught in the spell of an experience so exquisite it throws you headlong into the vibrant essence of life. Each breath sparkles with color, every sound is a song, magic plays on every breeze, delight flutters at your hair, and mystery dances at the edge of your vision. This is the enchantment that is summoned when you open your heart and your imagination to the World of Faerie.

Once you’ve allowed Faerie to enter your world, you need no magic wand waving wizard to hear a tree tell you a story or the wind singing an ancient song. The woolly bear caterpillar wandering across your lawn becomes your storyteller of the moment and the robin outside your window brings the news of the day.

Anything that delights us has the capacity to whisk us to Faerie – and it is only through being enchanted that we can enter that other realm. It is our willingness to be enchanted that is required to let us see the door.

Let your imagination wander through the scenes in this calendar. Walk down the path with the magical creatures in the stories and take them with you as you roam the sidewalks and highways of your “ordinary” world. By opening your imagination and allowing these images and characters into your life, you may find that every step you take is through a magical world – because you’ve allowed yourself to become enchanted.
