The Forest Sprites are all characters who emerged from John
Crawford's mystical digital collage prints. Each print begins as a
single photograph, taken in nature, and, as John copies, inverts, and
overlaps portions of the photo, he finds creatures who were hiding in
the original scene. Many are shy and choose to remain a part of their
environment in the print but some are intrigued by the opportunity of
having John help them take on individual form. As he coaxes them from
the print, they often find their voices and insert themselves into our
lives and projects. You'll find some of them on the website, others in
the Fairy Woodland movie, "Gateways to Faerie." Now you can bring them
into your life to lighten your day, make you smile, and help you
remember that Fairies are everywhere you look.
WINTER SHADE: a fanciful creature made of light and shadow, most easily spotted in the
silver glow of the full moon, sitting on a mushroom. Not a fan of harsh summer sun, he comes to life in the quiet of Winter when overcast skies soften the daylight. In low light, when edges blur, he can work his magic of blending worlds together. Shade's favorite habitat
is anywhere mushrooms grow.
