The Forest Sprites are all characters who emerged from John
Crawford's mystical digital collage prints. Each print begins as a
single photograph, taken in nature, and, as John copies, inverts, and
overlaps portions of the photo, he finds creatures who were hiding in
the original scene. Many are shy and choose to remain a part of their
environment in the print but some are intrigued by the opportunity of
having John help them take on individual form. As he coaxes them from
the print, they often find their voices and insert themselves into our
lives and projects. You'll find some of them on the website, others in
the Fairy Woodland movie, "Gateways to Faerie." Now you can bring them
into your life to lighten your day, make you smile, and help you
remember that Fairies are everywhere you look.
DOUGLAS DANCING: He moves in what would appear to be slow motion to us but in Tree terms, he's break dancing as the winds twirl him around. A thoughtful character, like most trees, Douglas thinks deep thoughts and has wise opinions about most questions, especially ones having to do with the dance of connection between sky and earth, mind and body. He has real skill in navigating between the two and he'll be glad to share what he knows with you. (We at Fairy Woodland also think he's very handsome but we don't tell him because it's not the sort of thing he's particularly interested in.)
